When I was a child I think 8 or 9 don’t remember well I loved a toy, it was a little boot a yellow boot. Inside, it was a little school with chair & desk, and had stickers of a blackboard, some apples, and the roof was like an attic, it was red and on the top was a bell, gold with blue. This toy appeared on T.V, and everytime I looked I scream, I want it with all my heart, and one Christmas, Santa gift it to me, I was so happy, finally I had that beautiful toy.

My birthday was so funny, I remember, I had 18 and it was the first birthday that I celebrate with my boyfriend, and celebrate with my closer friends too. My parents bought a lot of food…like cakes, hot-dogs, candies, sodas, etc. Then I opened my gifts, and I liked it very much because I receive chocolates, books, earrings, jewelry, cloth, and make up. Then we talk a lot, listen some music, and then it was so late, that everyone had to go to their homes.

Mr. Sargent Pepper:

The motive of this letter, is because last month is suffer a robbery on my bungalow, when I report this to police, they said that the thief was faster than them and they can’t catch him. And I can’t believe that a thief can win to police, if police are training to run faster, to climb and do everything to catch criminals, so why did this thing happened?

I hope this situation doesn’t repeat again, and thieves pay for their actions.

Sincerely

Carla Chacotilla

Essay

An essay is usually a short piece of writing which is often written from an author's personal point of view. Essays can consist of a number of elements, including: literary criticism, political manifestos, learned arguments, observations of daily life, recollections, and reflections of the author. The definition of an essay is vague, overlapping with those of an article and a short story.

“No man is an island”, wrote the English poet John Donne. We are not alone in this world, and what we do has an effect on others. In fact, what we do for prisoners will affect our lives as well as theirs. If we want criminals to become useful members of society when they get out of Jail, we must educate them while they are still in prison.

Education is the key to a prisoner’s reform. To create a successful education program, we must enact four measures. First, we must separate nonviolent prisoners or those violent prisoners who wish to change from violent repeat criminals. Then, for prisoners who want to reform, we need to offer a basic skills program because illiteracy is an obstacle for many prisoners. Without knowing how to read, write, and work with numbers, prisoners can’t participate in today’s job market and end up trapped in a life of crime. For this same reason, up-to-date job training is also essential. In addition to these opportunities, prisoners should have psychological counseling and religious or moral instruction. Because many prisoners have a history of failure and low opinions of themselves, they need to be encouraged to have confidence in their abilities. Prisoners who have job skills and good self-esteem can overcome their depression and feel optimistic about their chance of success in the world outside of prison.

Prisoners can become better future citizens, but we must educate them while they are still in prison to make their reform a success. By instructing and encouraging those prisoners who are nonviolent or wish to change, we will not only improve their lives, we will ensure the safety of our society.

In this essay evolves around a very important subject that is the education and how a reform will help to overcome illiteracy as other issues that affect prisoners nowadays.

Pre-writing:

*Prisoners have opportunities and want to reform themselves.
* Separate nonviolent prisoners from others.
* Prisoners can be betters persons if they receive help.
*Most prisoners can’t read or write, and that difficult to find a job.

This pre-writing is useful for put in order your ideas and like this you can do a better job. In this pre-writing, you can see very important points that help to organize the essay.

Draft:

Today prisoners haven’t opportunities in many jobs, because most of them can’t read o write. Prisoners want to reform them selves, and for do that, they need help to learn to read & write, and then they will be better citizens and useful for society. But, in other side, some prisoners don’t want to reform, and they are more violent than prisoners who want to reform…the solution is to separate nonviolent prisoners from others.

Paragraphs.

A paragraph is a self-contained unit of a discourse in writing dealing with a particular point or idea. Paragraphs consist of one or more sentences. The start of a paragraph is indicated by beginning on a new line. Sometimes the first line is indented. At various times, the beginning of a paragraph has been indicated by the topic sentence.

When we write a paragraph, we have to do Pre-writing, that mean write down different ideas. Then write a Draft, is like a paragraph but not finished yet, in a Draft you don’t have to worry about grammar, you do that in a final paragraph.

Paragraph 1:
“Everything about Southwest seems big. The sky is vast and the deserts seems endless to someone walking or even driving through them. The mountains are rocky and almost impassable. From the top of Mt. Whitney in California (about 14,495 feet above sea level), a person can look down into Death Valley (about 282 feet below sea level). The Grand Canyon leaves the viewer breathless. The Painted Desert of Arizona must be seen to be believed. In Texas, the fertile grasslands seem to go on forever along the horizon.”

Reflection:
Here we can see how the Topic sentence is important to start to write a paragraph, because introduces us to the topic of the paragraph.

Paragraph 2:
“The cat was called Dragon, and the name was an apt one. He was enormous, with a huge, broad head and a large mouth full of curving fangs, needle sharp. He had seven claws on each foot and a thick, furry tail, which lashed angrily from side to side. In color he was orange and white, with glaring yellow eyes. “

Reflection:
Here the Topic sentence introduces why the cat is call Dragon, then in the paragraph describes to the cat.
